Simply Complex

Summer 2021

For this design, we were tasked with creating a functional learning space that could also be used as a place to hang out with friends or relax. With this in mind, I created a space in Dudley Courtyard that was both simple and complex in appearance. I kept the spaces mainly open, so that the structures were not overcrowding the courtyard, but instead creating designated spaces.

Simply Complex: Recent Projects

I used circles as the groundwork for my idea to disrupt the blocky geometry used in the Dudley Courtyard. Using overlapping circles, I created spaces that could be combined or remain apart based on the intended use. I also made sure to make both seating and overhangs were visually interesting for both ground-level people and people on higher floor levels.
